Breaking the Routine.
Unfortunately, James didn't quite get the take-up he was hoping for regarding his plans to establish a 5-a-side football league. It's a shame, as he put a great deal of thought and time into it.
He said he's not quite given up just yet and may try next year. In the meantime, he still takes part in games on the holodeck with a few of his colleagues.
In a couple of weeks' time, James and I will be visiting Deep Space Nine for a few days. We hope to catch up with a few friends coming from other places. We did this last year, which was a lot of fun.
I went with the maintenance team this afternoon to some of the vacant homes requiring minor renovations. I'm grateful that my job has a hands-on, practical side, as it gets me out of the office and around the colony.
We all have our own routines that we feel comfortable with, but every so often, it's a good idea to take a break from the norm and do something different, even if it puts you slightly outside of your comfort zone.
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.
