Post-Quake Reflections

The preliminary results of the colony survey after the short quake are in and, as expected, no damage has been found anywhere in the colony, including the underground tunnel network. The colony's structure was designed to withstand earthquakes of a much greater magnitude.

The memorial service for Vedek Buka and his followers will take place tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. at the site of their settlement. The service will last about an hour, followed by drinks and traditional Bajoran food.

As for today, it's been rather quiet. The quake is still the main topic of discussion. The orbital platform monitors seismic activity on Docosie, and yesterday's jolt was only the third recorded since the colony was founded—and the only one close to us. The other two were on the opposite side of the planet.

At least the temperatures are cooler today than they were earlier this week, though they are expected to rise again tomorrow. The evening temperature tonight was superb, a mere 20°C, making it perfect for a stroll through the colony and the central park.

I don't regret moving to Docosie from my home on Trill. I still keep in touch with family and friends, and they often visit us here. That being said, trying to get my old friend Jaxton to visit is more difficult than a warp core refit. I hope he runs out of excuses eventually.

Well, I've done a little bit of research and Rom is still the current Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance at the ripe age of 137 with his wife Leeta (never quote a lady's age). From what I have read, he has made a few reforms to Ferengi society and the Rules of Acquisition. I won't go into details here, but suffice to say, they look like they are definitely an improvement with room to grow. I wonder if he has time to see an old friend and if so, it would make me the first Dax ever to visit Ferenginar.

who am I?

It's me, Dax. I'm Orzal, the 10th host of the Dax Symbiont. I followed on from Ezri in 2462, she was 108. To say that it's an honour to be the current host is an understatement.  I met my fiancée, Ranih, in 2466, just four years later and I proposed to her, as the sun rose over the Fa'hari Mountains on Trill, early this year. Our wedding is next year in the summer. Lots to do plenty to plan and sort. So, we live and work on the colony, our home for the foreseeable future. In my job, I do get a slight perk. Every third week, get to work from our orbital station. From there I enjoy a view of Docosie III and any amazing ships that visit.  Best get back to work - Dax.

Unexpected

Well.... That was unexpected. I visited the coffee shop this afternoon, just to get out of the house and stretch my legs.  When I got there, it was quite busy so as I was looking for a place to sit with my coffee, a voice spoke above the background noise say I could join them. I hadn't noticed who they were till I sat down.  That's when I looked at the couple sat across from me, Benjamin and Alora Bashir.  I tried to act normal but Alora picked up on it and asked if I was ok.  I thought about how to respond for what seemed like an eternity. Just as I was about reply, their coffees arrived. After a short pause, I introduced myself. Benjamin's eyes widened, similar to the infamous stare of Gowron.
