Learning to Listen.

Ranih is settling in well to her role as the Trill representative on the Docosie Council. She is rapidly earning the respect and appreciation of all the residents across the colony, far beyond just the Trill community she was sent to represent.

It has been a surprisingly ordinary day on Docosie. 13:00 is no longer a hour where everyone collectively holds their breath, bracing for the unknown. Even Q hinted that while he might drop by again someday, we could actually relax for now.

Over in the mess hall on our orbital platform today, a young officer from the Starfleet detachment sat down at the piano. I happened to arrive just in time to catch an exquisite rendition of Debussy’s Clair de Lune.

As the music drifted through the deck, a profound sense of calm settled over the room. Everyone fell into a quiet, shared silence, and for a few minutes, the tranquility felt almost tangible, a rare moment of stillness in an otherwise unpredictable universe.

Strange, chaotic, and stressful events are bound to find us all, whether we invite them in or not. In those moments, we have to remind ourselves to step back and simply let go.

It is rarely an easy task, but it is vital for our wellbeing. Our minds and bodies always signal when we need a break; we just have to be willing to listen.
