Faith, Tragedy, and Community.

The focus of today was the memorial service for Vedek Buka and his devoted followers, who departed Bajor some seven hundred years ago. Guided by faith or fate, they managed to find their way across the stars to Docosie III, establishing a new home here long before the current colony was established.

Tragically, their journey ended in disaster. They lost their lives, and everything they had worked so hard to build, when a meteor struck the ocean, triggering a devastating tsunami that ultimately swept away their entire settlement. Standing where they once stood, one cannot help but feel a profound sense of humility at how quickly even the most vibrant communities can be lost to the whims of the cosmos.

It was a deeply moving, traditional service. The air was thick with the scent of burning incense, and the quiet resonance of Bajoran prayers carried over the crowd before concluding in a solemn, two-minute silence. It was a beautiful moment of collective reflection, bridging the gap between the past and our present.

As always, the local Bajoran community here on Docosie went above and beyond, providing a fabulous and comforting meal for all the attendees afterward. Held in the warmth of the central park back at the colony, the gathering served as a poignant reminder of our resilience. Out of ancient tragedy, our vibrant, supportive community continues to thrive.
