OOC. Bit of Dax Background.

Dax’s hosts were Lela, Tobin, Emony, Audrid, Torias, Joran, Curzon, Jadzia, and Ezri.

Lela was a legislator and the first woman to serve on the Trill Council. She had a son named Ahjess and may have lived in the mid‑21st century.

Tobin was a scientist. He had a difficult child named Raifi. Tobin was very shy, had expertise in phase‑coil converters, and worked on a new proof of Fermat’s Last Theorem. He was also a botanist and met the noted Cardassian poet Iloja of Prim while visiting Vulcan.

Emony was a professional gymnast. She visited Earth in 2245 to judge a gymnastics competition and had a romance with the Enterprise’s Dr. Leonard McCoy while he was a student in Mississippi.

Audrid served as head of the Trill Symbiosis Commission. She had two children, including a daughter named Neema, and died in 2284.

Torias was killed in a shuttle accident within a year of being joined. Official records list his death as Stardate 8615.2—six months after his actual death in 2285. He was married to Nilani Kahn, a joined Trill whom Jadzia later met as Lenara Kahn.

Joran was a musician and composer. His original surname was Belar. His body rejected the Dax symbiont six months after joining in 2285. The Trill Symbiosis Commission altered records to claim he had never been joined and that he was killed after murdering a doctor who recommended he be removed from the initiate program. His memories were erased from the Dax symbiont until Jadzia recovered them in 2371.

Curzon was a diplomat. He served as a Federation mediator on Klaestron IV during a civil war in the 2330s. While there, he befriended General Ardelon Tandro and his wife Enina—whom Curzon had an affair with. The Dax symbiont was later charged with Tandro’s murder, but the charges were dropped when Enina testified that Curzon had been in her bed at the time.

Curzon was once thrown out of the Barros Inn for setting the place on fire and was late to his own 100th birthday party. He met Benjamin Sisko at Pelios Station, and they later served together aboard the USS Livingston. He was also friends with Starfleet‑officer‑turned‑Maquis Calvin Hudson.

Curzon served as Jadzia’s field docent and recommended she be dropped from the initiate program, claiming she lacked a sense of purpose. In truth, he had fallen in love with her and nearly resigned from the guilt. When Jadzia reapplied and succeeded, she requested to become the next host of the Dax symbiont, and Curzon did not object.

Curzon enjoyed the Ferengi game Tongo. He died on Risa while making love to Arandis, who described it as “death by jamaharon.”

Jadzia was a Starfleet science officer and the eighth host of the Dax symbiont. She served aboard Deep Space Nine and was known for her intelligence, confidence, and sense of humor. She formed close friendships with her crewmates, especially Benjamin Sisko, and married Worf. Jadzia was killed by Gul Dukat in 2374 during a spiritual attack on the station.

Ezri was the ninth host of the Dax symbiont. Originally Ezri Tigan, she was joined unexpectedly without formal training after Jadzia’s death. She served as counselor aboard Deep Space Nine and struggled to integrate the memories of her previous hosts. Over time, Ezri grew into her role and formed strong bonds with the crew, including a romantic relationship with Dr. Julian Bashir, whom she latter married and had a son, Benjamin. Ezri passed away in 2462 as a highly decorated Commodore in StarFleet. She was 122.

Orzal Greol was born on Trill in 2439. He became an initiate in 2460 and was joined with Dax in 2462 following the passing of Commodore Ezri Dax. He met his fiancée while working as a government administrator in 2470. The two decided to relocate to Docosie III in 2473 after both securing positions similar to the ones they held at the time. Orzal proposed to Ranih in 2472, and they now live together with their holographic cat, Jodo.
