As I predicted, James was thrilled when I asked if he fancied going on a hiking trip to the forest and mountains that are roughly an hour’s shuttle ride from the colony.

Obviously, this will be after Ranih and I return from our honeymoon, but James didn’t mind the wait.

It will give him ample time to plan the trip down to the minutest detail. When he works on any technical project for the colony, he’s well known for going to extremes with the finer points.

The area where most people go for hiking and camping is a beautiful part of the continent where the colony is located.

It’s a large wooded region with streams, lakes, rivers, and a massive mountain range. We will have to take a few precautions regarding certain wildlife, making sure we bring the anti-venom for Docosie’s most venomous spider.

We definitely do not want to run into that thing. Along with the anti-venom, we can set up a device that emits a frequency we can’t hear but that will deter the spider from encroaching on our camp.

Well, I've done a little bit of research and Rom is still the current Grand Nagus of the Ferengi Alliance at the ripe age of 137 with his wife Leeta (never quote a lady's age). From what I have read, he has made a few reforms to Ferengi society and the Rules of Acquisition. I won't go into details here, but suffice to say, they look like they are definitely an improvement with room to grow. I wonder if he has time to see an old friend and if so, it would make me the first Dax ever to visit Ferenginar.

who am I?

It's me, Dax. I'm Orzal, the 10th host of the Dax Symbiont. I followed on from Ezri in 2462, she was 108. To say that it's an honour to be the current host is an understatement.  I met my fiancée, Ranih, in 2466, just four years later and I proposed to her, as the sun rose over the Fa'hari Mountains on Trill, early this year. Our wedding is next year in the summer. Lots to do plenty to plan and sort. So, we live and work on the colony, our home for the foreseeable future. In my job, I do get a slight perk. Every third week, get to work from our orbital station. From there I enjoy a view of Docosie III and any amazing ships that visit.  Best get back to work - Dax.

Unexpected

Well.... That was unexpected. I visited the coffee shop this afternoon, just to get out of the house and stretch my legs.  When I got there, it was quite busy so as I was looking for a place to sit with my coffee, a voice spoke above the background noise say I could join them. I hadn't noticed who they were till I sat down.  That's when I looked at the couple sat across from me, Benjamin and Alora Bashir.  I tried to act normal but Alora picked up on it and asked if I was ok.  I thought about how to respond for what seemed like an eternity. Just as I was about reply, their coffees arrived. After a short pause, I introduced myself. Benjamin's eyes widened, similar to the infamous stare of Gowron. I then said that yes, I was Ezri but I'm Orzal now, and I live on Docosie as one of the administrators.  I told them about my life here, Ranih and our holographic cat, Jodo.
