A Gift
Ranih got me a gift today. It's taken me completely by surprise. I asked if there was an occasion I wasn't aware of but no. She simply said, "because I wanted to, and I love you." I love her so much.
It's a beautiful ring for my right hand. It's made from Tungsten carbide, a super-hard, dense composite material made of tungsten and carbon. I did a bit of research on it, as things like this interest me and more so now I have the memories and scientific curiosity of Jadzia.
Tungsten Carbide is often mixed with a colbalt binder (cemented carbide), creating exceptional wear resistance, high stiffness, heat tolerance, and compressive strength, making it ideal for cutting tools, armor, industrial dies, and jewelry. It's significantly harder and stiffer than steel, second only to diamond in hardness, allowing it to maintain sharp edges and resist abrasion in demanding industrial applications.
It's a beautiful ring.
